Micah 6:7–9 (NKJV) "Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, ten thousand rivers of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?"

What it is speaking to me:

If you grew up with siblings, you know exactly what I'm about to describe: Mom pulls a fresh tray of cookies out of the oven, and suddenly you're a cookie scientist, carefully studying each one for size, shape, and chocolate chip density, before snatching the winner off the tray before anyone else even has a chance.

And honestly, it wasn't just cookies. It was the bigger scoop of mac and cheese, the best piece of candy from Grandma's bowl, the good seat in the car, the movie you wanted to watch. Little wins, claimed one at a time.

Now, most of that is pretty innocent. That's just being a kid. But here's the thing: those small habits of putting ourselves first have a way of quietly growing up in our hearts with us. What starts as grabbing the best cookie can slowly shape how we treat people at work, at home, and in our communities. You don't have to look hard for examples of where it can lead to pretty dark places. Just turn on the news for five minutes.

God is perfectly just, and I think He genuinely cares about justice at every level, not just the big, headline-worthy moments, but the small, everyday ones too. My pastor loves to say, "Big is small multiplied." Every small, quiet choice to treat someone fairly, the kind of thing nobody else even notices, adds up to something that matters deeply to God. He's not always asking for the grand gesture or the dramatic sacrifice. Sometimes He's just asking us to be fair in the little things, right where we are.

What is it saying to you?

What small acts of justice do you carry out?

What small acts of injustice have you let slide?

What are we going to do about it?

Take a look at your day-to-day life, at home, at work, wherever you spend your time, and see if there's a small, unfair dynamic you've been letting slide. Then take one step today to make it right.
