DAVID'S DAILY
DEVOTIONAL
Photo by Andrik Langfield on Unsplash
WELCOME!
This devotional blog is a weekday "non-fluffy" devotional in the Word based on the two greatest commandments: "Love the Lord, love your neighbor." Each devotion will answer these three questions: What does the message speak to me (the author) today? What is it saying to you (the reader)? And what are we going to do about it? The Bible will speak to us every day if we will let it. So what is it saying today?
You can just come to this page every morning to see the latest blog post, but if you prefer email, subscribe below to have the link to the daily devotion dropped in your email inbox every morning.

Burn Process
Read Romans 12:1,3 (CSB) Therefore, brothers and sisters, in view of the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your true worship. For by the grace given to me, I tell everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he should think. Instead, think sensibly, as God has distributed a measure of faith to each one. What is it speaking to me? One type of Old Testament sacrifice was the burnt offering.

Room for Rejoicing
Read Romans 12:14–16 (KJV) Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not. Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits. What It Is Speaking to Me "Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with them that weep." Maybe you find one of those easier than the other. It is easier for me to rejoice with others than to weep with

Head Battle
Read Romans 7:18-19 (NKJV) For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find. For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice. What it is speaking to me: Paul had the same battle in his own head that I have. You know the thing. You decide you are not going to say that thing to your spouse, your kids, your co-worker, or the guy on the intern

Conquering Fear
Read Romans 8:37–39 (KJV) In all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. What It Is Speaking to Me We are pretty good at imagining worst-case scenarios. Give us a quiet moment, and ou

Bring On the Lines
Read Romans 8:25 (ESV) — But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience. What it is speaking to me It is kinda crazy how bad I have gotten at waiting. I mean most folks hate a long line of traffic on the highway, construction zones, DMV lines, long checkout lines at the store, or even lines in a buffet at church. That's normal levels of impatience. Not condoning it, just understanding it. But in an instant-access culture brought to us by the internet, I h

Live Peaceably
Read Romans 12:17-18 Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. What it is speaking to me: When I was a child there was a really mean old lady that lived a few houses down. She was rude, mean, and scary- like a villain out of a children's book. Her front yard had a sweetgum tree in it, the kind that drops those little brown spiky balls. One day, I gathered as many

Where are you standing?
Read Romans 5:1–5 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the
