Psalm 89:5–8 (NKJV) And the heavens will praise Your wonders, O Lord;Your faithfulness also in the assembly of the saints. For who in the heavens can be compared to the Lord?Who among the sons of the mighty can be likened to the Lord? God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be held in reverence by all those around Him. O Lord God of hosts, who is mighty like You, O Lord? Your faithfulness also surrounds You.

What it is speaking to me:

There are things we can do that on the surface seems similar to things God does. For example: Genesis 1, God says "Let there be light." And there was. That is God.

I programmed my smart lights through my Amazon devices that when I say "Let there be light", my living room lights come on. That is David.

Cool or fun for sure, but to pretend that God and I uttering the same phrase in any meaningful way makes us the same is utterly ridiculous. None of you reading this would argue this point with me. God is God, like the Psalmist writes above, there is NONE like Him.

But there are other ways we are "like" God. We have a will, we have agency, we can make plans, we can (to some degree or another) act on those plans and see them come to fruition.

So...

What if we make plans in spite of God's plans?

What if we act without prayer, or in spite of God's direction not to?

What if we are convinced we know better than God's Word about how to handle something?

What if we think God's word matters less than cultural norms about a moral or social issue we are facing?

What if we decide to try to make something happen with our own will, power, and agency, instead of waiting on His timing and power?

Is it really any less ridiculous?

Who is like the Lord?

None of us.

"God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints,And to be held in reverence by all those around Him."

What is it saying to you?

What is your version of the examples above?

What causes you to do this?

What are we going to do about it?

Today, consider what is on the schedule. How can you bring the awe and reverence for God into it? If you receive Godly direction, follow it.
