DAVID'S DAILY
DEVOTIONAL

WELCOME!
This devotional blog is a weekday "non-fluffy" devotional in the Word based on the two greatest commandments: "Love the Lord, love your neighbor." Each devotion will answer these three questions: What does the message speak to me (the author) today? What is it saying to you (the reader)? And what are we going to do about it? The Bible will speak to us every day if we will let it. So what is it saying today?
You can just come to this page every morning to see the latest blog post, but if you prefer email, subscribe below to have the link to the daily devotion dropped in your email inbox every morning.

Still Waters
Read Psalm 23:2-3 (NKJV) He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. What is this saying to me? The shepherd leads to still waters. Not rapids. Not waterfalls. Still water.Often God’s provision for us looks like more: more open doors, more opportunities, more output. And that is great, I love more. Most of us at one time or another has loved "more". More is exc

Coffee in the Dark
Read Psalms 119:103-105 (KJV) How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. What It Is Speaking to Me The other morning I made coffee in the dark. When I get up it's dark outside and our house is dark. Usually I turn on the kitchen overhead light and make coffee and get started on the day. But I didn't sleep well

Where Do You Run?
Read Psalm 63:1-4, 7-8: O God, You are my God; early will I seek You; my soul thirsts for You; my flesh longs for You in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water. So I have looked for You in the sanctuary, to see Your power and Your glory. Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise You. Thus I will bless You while I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name. Because You have been my help, therefore in the shadow of Your wings I will rejoice.

Rock vs. Calendar
Read Psalm 61:1-3Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer. From the ends of the earth I call to you,I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.For you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe. What It Is Speaking to Me You ever been in the spot where there aren't enough hours in the day to accomplish the things that need to be done? What about the week? The month? You ever feel like you're in a season of being overworked, with too much

Resolved in the Unresolved
Read Psalm 37:7-8 (ESV) Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices! Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath! Fret not yourself; it tends only to evil. What it is speaking to me David wrote this psalm watching wicked men prosper while he, the anointed king, was still dodging spears and hiding in caves. He was writing from the middle of the injustice, telling himself (and us) to

Joy in the Waiting — Psalm 27:13-14
Read Psalm 27:13-14 (NIV) I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD. What it is speaking to me Nobody decorates a waiting room to make you happy to be there. The chairs are stiff, the magazines are old, and the TV is always on a channel that nobody picked. Waiting rooms exist to hold you until the news comes, good or bad. Nobody expects joy in a waiting room. You
